Norfolk, NE- Lillian M. (Duryea) Swick age 96 of Norfolk formerly of Lillian Community north of Broken Bow, died Sunday January 16, 2011 at the Heritage of Bel-Air care home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 20, at 2:00 PM at the Lillian Church of Christ north of Broken Bow with Pastor Bob Dainton officiating. Burial will be in the Gates Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday morning 10 AM to 12 PM at the church. A lunch will follow the visitation. Memorials have been suggested to the Lillian Church of Christ or the Alzheimer’s Research Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Lillian Marie Swick was born March 14, 1914 to Issac and Inger Marie “Mary” (Matson) Duryea. Lillian grew up in Blaine and Custer Counties, and graduated from Merna High School in 1930. On June 14, 1936 she was married to Louis O. Swick in Broken Bow.
Lillian is survived by her daughter Janice Swick of Norfolk and a host of nieces, nephews, grand and great.
Lillian is also survived by her extended family and caregivers at Heritage of Bel-Air in Norfolk, NE. Lillian’s family is very grateful to all the caregivers and administrators of Heritage of Bel-Air who stepped up in Lillian’s final months to give her a home filled with excellent loving care.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her in laws Oliver and Hope Swick, five sisters Naomia Zackary and husband Nidgal, Anna McLaughlin and husband Lawny, Viola Rowe and husband Vern, Fern Myers and husband Adrian, Rosia Kennedy and husband Glenn, two brothers Leo Duryea and wife Jenny, Noble Duryea and wife Dora.
