Wayne Lyon

Wayne W. Lyon, age 82 of Merna, Ne. died Jan. 29, 2011 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Private Family graveside funeral services will be Wed. Feb. 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Merna Cemetery in Merna, Ne with Rev. Dale Coates officiating. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday Feb. 1st at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, Ne. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.and Wed. until 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Merna Fire Department. Wayne Lyon was born May 13, 1928, at his parents’ home in Merna, Nebraska to Fred and Beva (Fenimore) Lyon. He attended school in Merna. On March 4, 1946, Wayne was united in marriage to Lois L. Condon. He spent most of his life in the Merna Community where he farmed and later did machine shop work with truck and irrigation engines. Wayne was an avid trapshooter and participated at state competitions. He enjoyed traveling, taking two world freighter cruises later in life, and took great pleasure later relating stories of his travels. Wayne is survived by 3 daughters Jacqueline Rush and her husband Jack of Lincoln, Ne. Judy Lyon of Hastings, Ne., and Jodene Clabaugh and her husband Steve of Nelson, Ne. 5 grandchildren Terry Rush and his wife Colleen, Timothy Rush and his wife Renea, Traci Beck, Todd Clabaugh and his wife Wendy, and Travis Clabaugh and his wife Missy; eleven great grandchildren, and a sister Evelynn Meinhardt of Tucson, Arizona and neices and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Lois, parents, Fred and Beva Lyon, one nephew, and two brothers-in-law.
