Cheri Lavonne Koinzan went to be with the Lord February 27, 2011.
I was born February 28, 1947 at North Platte, NE to Harvey and Ruth (Whitney) Brown. I grew up on a ranch near Arnold, NE. After graduation, I married, worked at Becton Dickinson in Broken Bow, following as a Postal Clerk,
Administrative Secretary for Jennie Melham Medical Center and worked for Broken Bow Clinic for several years as a Medical Transcriptionist, insurance filings and collections. During this time my two sons were born, Arin and Dagin Duryea. I always had an involvement with the family farm where I worked in the fields and learned how to handle and process the cattle. In the following years I lived and worked in California for several years at Dwight D. Eisenhower Hospital as Administrative Secretary. I also worked full time for J.C. Poppe Construction Co. In the years following, I moved back to Nebraska to be near my children. I worked as an Administrative Secretary for Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, following I owned cattle, farmed and worked in a feedlot for a friend, worked in Mills Hardware and did bookkeeping when I lived in Arnold. During the years I had served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader and Church Officer.
I enjoyed training my horses and dogs, the cattle, cooking, being a homemaker, all work in general and writing poetry. I was never to busy to listen to a friend or try to help.
In 2005 I felt very fortunate as I remet and married John Koinzan, we moved to Broken Bow. My life had found contentment and as I have known
most of my life God is the only answer as I accepted Jesus as my Saviour at a young age.
I leave to mourn, my husband John of Gothenburg, my son Dagin Duryea of Valentine, NE., step children Teresa (Mike) Halley of Scottsbluff, Shari (Kent) Sandoz of Valentine, NE., John J. (Lisa) Koinzan of Merna, Adam Koinzan of Broken Bow, NE., Ethan Koinzan of Broken Bow, NE. Seven grandchildren, Traceton, Devaney, Jade, Peyton, Lauren, Kaycee and Tyler, my sister Valarie (Bob) Jackson of Maxwell, niece Leah (Ivan) Miller and children Jessie and Brian of Maxwell. Special friends- Glen and Connie Weinman, their family and Lester McMurry
I am preceded in death by my son, Arin Duryea, and parents Harvey and Ruth Brown.
