Delpha Hoblyn

August 31, 1913 — March 12, 2011

Delpha Deloris (Madsen) Hoblyn was born August 31, 1913 to William and Margaret (Stender) Madsen at Mason City, Ne. She grew up in the Basin area by Mason City. At an early age, she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Basin Zion Lutheran Church. Delpha attended grade school at the Basin School and graduated from Mason City High School in 1931. After graduating from high school, she worked for the Doug Mills family. On April 27, 1937, Delpha married Ray Hoblyn at Ansley, Ne. To this union, four children were born; Robert, Dianne, James and DeLoris. Ray and Delpha lived for 48 years on the Ed Burrows farm west of Ansley where they farmed, milked cows, and raised their 4 children. In 1984, they moved to a small acreage north of Ansley where they enjoyed retirement. Family was always important to Delpha and she was known as an excellent cook. Anyone that stopped by at mealtime was always welcome to eat with them. It always amazed her family when they would stop by to visit and, in no time, she would have a meal prepared for everyone. She and Ray enjoyed gardening. They would share their bountiful harvest with family and friends whether it would be fresh or canned. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and, when able, liked to attend their activities. In January 1999, Ray and Delpha moved to the Off Broadway Apartments in Broken Bow, Ne. There Delpha enjoyed bible study, bingo, and other activities. She enjoyed her apartment and the many friends she made at Off Broadway. Ray passed away in November 2003. Due to failing health, Delpha entered Heritage Hall Nursing Home on December 28, 2010. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a friend to everyone. Delpha passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the age of 97 at Heritage Hall Care Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 16th at 10:30 a.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Minister Kathy Salts officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday March 15th 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice. Delpha is survived by her sons Bob (Nancy) Hoblyn of York, Ne. and Jim (Pat) Hoblyn of Ansley, daughters Dianne (Art) Anderson of Westerville and Dee (Mike) Krantz of Ansley, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Larry and Rita Hoblyn, Cassie, Jesse, and Jami of York; Brenda and Jeff Coufal, Brittany and Tyler of Lincoln; Tami and Pat Schendt, Drew and Sam of Broken Bow; Lori and Bob Mills, Blair and Blake of Kearney; Vicki and Jon Herrera, Joe, Hannah, and Norah or Wahoo; Kelli and Ryan Bauder of Scotland, SD; Katie Hoblyn of Ansley; Heather and Scott Munson, Mika and Teague of Arkansas City, KC; and Ryan and Nicole Krantz of Kearney. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, two brothers Stanton and Wayne Madsen, and sister Frieda Baxter.
