Mary "Micky" Fisher

Mary Lou “Micky” Fisher age 83 of Halsey died April 4th at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held Monday April 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Sandhills Community Church in Dunning with Pastor Lee Wonch officiating. Burial will be in the Purdum Cemetery. Visitation will beheld Sunday April 10, 1 PM to 6 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials have been established to the Sandhills Community Church in Dunning. Mary was born April 3, 1928 at Burwell, NE to Harry and Pearl Fletcher. As a child she lived near Sargent, NE. In 1941 she and her family moved to a ranch near Diamond Lake which is just east of Willow Lake. On June 4, 1948 she was married to Dick Fisher. To this union one son Rick J. Fisher was born. From 1948 to 1961 they lived on their ranch northwest of Purdum and she also worked for Dana Harsh at Harsh Mercantile and Dick worked for the Nebraska National Forest at Halsey. In 1961 the family moved to an acreage by the river in Halsey. They continued to operate the ranch at Purdum while Dick continued to work for the Forest Service. Miky worked at the local grocery store owned by Fat and Marie Wirz for two years. In 1963 she started working for the State Department of the Forest Service and was employed by them for 21 years. Micky loved to travel, fish, make quilts, make wine and just make memories with everyone. Micky is survived by her son Rick J. Fisher of Cheyenne, WY, one granddaughter Shannon R. Harper of Bolivar, MO, two great grandchildren Amanda and Kyle Harper of Bolivar, MO, one sister Judy Crist of Bassett, NE, two “very special friends” Floyd and Cleo Haynes of Halsey, many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Darlene King and one brother Darold Fletcher.
