Gerrit A. Hamblin, age 87, of Broken Bow died Tuesday June 21st 2011 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Memorial Funeral services will be Friday June 24th at 7 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rev. Henry Duerksen officiating. A time of coffee and sharing memories will follow this service. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery Friday June 24th at 3 p.m. Visitation will be Thursday June 23rd 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary and Friday 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Govier Brothers.
Gerrit A. Hamblin was born May 15, 1924 to Miles and Nell Hamblin. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. Gerrit received his education at the University of Sioux Falls. In 1950 Gerrit married Jane Sallander. He was employed as a teacher in Broken Bow High School for 30 years. Gerrit was a member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow, serving as a moderator, adult Sunday school and youth leader.
Gerrit is survived by his wife Jane Hamblin of Broken Bow and a sister Connie Spain of Sioux City, Iowa.
