Broken Bow, NE- Shirley Hickman age 89 of Broken Bow died Tuesday February 14, 2012 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery with Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held Friday 8 AM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials have been established to the Merna Cemetery or the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Shirley was born on June 6, 1922 at Merna, Nebraska to Clarence Eugene and Wilma Loy (Taylor) Rama. Shirley was married to James Higginbotham in 1945 at Denver. They lived in Mississippi before moving to the family farm north of Callaway. Shirley later married Leo Hickman in 1968. They lived on the Hickman family farm near Victoria Springs. Leo died in 1986. After Leo’s death Shirley moved to Broken Bow. Shirley is survived by her son Dennis (Tish) Higginbotham of Broken Bow, daughter Cheryl (Bob) Bowles of Broken Bow, five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo, grandson Ron Horn, twin brother Morris, and brother Earl.
