Broken Bow, NE- Delmer Applegarth Sr. age 83 of Broken Bow died Friday March 16, 2012 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Monday March 19, 8 AM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. A memorial has been established to the family.
Delmer was born on October 2, 1928 at Keene, NE to Clyde Henry and Amelia Goldie (Peterson) Applegarth. At a young age he moved with his family to Weissert, NE. As a young man Delmer went to work for the rail road. He later was employed by the Broken Bow Utilities. On August 22, 1951 he was married to Velma Viola Ash at Broken Bow. They made their home in Broken Bow. Velma died in 2003.
Delmer is survived by his daughters Elaine (Dale) Booth of Livingston, MT, Gay Winchester of Broken Bow, Janet (Garry) Morgan of Broken Bow, Sherry (Gene) Schnase of Broken Bow, Kari Saner of Broken Bow, and Gail Applegarth of Broken Bow, sons Delmer “Duke” (Esther) Applegarth Jr. of Broken Bow, Clyde (Connie) Applegarth of Cozad, and Terry (Mary) Applegarth of Broken Bow, a daughter-in-law Sandi Applegarth of Mason City, NE, and one brother Clyde (Alice) Applegarth of Waverly, NE. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Velma, sons Michael, and Steven, and sisters Betty, Mabel, Louella, Virginia, and Joann
