Ruth Ellen Crone
Ruth E. Crone age 85 of Callaway formerly of Merna died April 26, 2012 at the Callaway Good Samaritan Center. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday April 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Cemetery at Anselmo with Rev. D.R.Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Interment will be at the Grandview Cemetery.
Ruth was born March 24, 1927 the second of four children born to Paul and Mary (Genug) Homan in a sod house in Brown County, Nebraska. She married Evan Joseph (Tad) Crone Jr. on September 6, 1947. They moved to Washington where their older daughter Linda was born. They lived in Washington for two years. They moved back to Nebraska where Tad worked for ranchers in the Sandhills and Ruth taught in several one room school houses. Leslie was born four years after Linda was born. They moved to Merna fifteen years later Laura was born. Ruth worked for Anselmo – Merna Schools in the kitchen and as custodian.
She was a member of the Seven Valleys Extension Club and Sew and Sew Club for many years.
Survivors include two daughters Linda (Edward) Sizer of Fort Mill, SC and Laura (Albert) Pryce of Broken Bow, NE. One son Leslie (Aurora) Crone of Grandview, WA. Grandchildren Bryan and wife Dixie Sizer, Angela and John Giacobini, Candice and husband Mark Payne, Dustin and wife Lori Sizer all of Fort Mill, SC. Brian Ware, Brianne and David Drake all of Grandview, WA. Six great grandchildren and one on the way, and two step great grandchildren. She is also survived one sister Mildred Liberty of Sunnyside, WA., one brother Russell and wife Jean Homan of Centralia, WA., sister in law Evelyn McElgunn of Hawaii, sister in law Viola Crone of Blair, NE, brother in law Floyd and wife Shirley Crone of Ainsworth, NE., sister in law Beryle Banker of Britt Iowa, brother in law Eldon and wife Loretta Crone of Fort Morgan, CO., brother in law Laurel and wife Kay Crone of Grand Junction, CO., numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Evan “Tad” Crone, her parents Paul and Mary Homan, one brother Francis Homan and his wife Ruth Conrey and sister in law Shirley Homan.
