Broken Bow, NE- June Winberg age 65 of Broken Bow died Thursday May 3, 2012 at the Custer Care #2 in Broken Bow.
June Ellen Fergusen was born in Broken Bow, NE. June 6th, 1946. She lived in Brewster and attended a country school and then Brewster High School. She graduated in 1964. June continued her education and attended Beauty School in Hastings and graduated in 1965.
June was married to Larry Winberg May 16th, 1965. Larry and June moved to Saint ...Jo Missouri and were later transferred to Leavenworth, KS, where they had their first child Travis on June 28th, 1967. The family moved to Lincoln in 1968 where Larry attended Barber School and June worked at Lucille Duer Salon.
When Larry finished Barber School the family moved to Grand Island where their daughter Tricia was born. Soon after the birth of Tricia the family purchased an acreage north of Broken Bow, where they lived and raised their children and animals.
In the mid 70’s Larry and June moved a house on to their place and built a beauty shop in the basement. June operated the beauty shop, Country Curl, from 1975 -2011.
June was preceded in death by her Father Coulvard Ferguson and her mother Jessie.
She is survived by her husband Larry Winberg, of Broken Bow, her children Travis Winberg of Hazard and Tricia Trumbley and her husband Scott of Lincoln, her grandchildren Lexi & Jaryd Trumbley, Aaron, Michael and Jesse Winberg.
Other survivors include her sisters Judy (Tom) Eacker, of Broken Bow, Patti (Tom) Keeney of Callaway, brother Darrell (Caroline) Knecht of St. Joseph, MO, nieces, nephews , many cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday May 7th, 2012 at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rev. Roger Quandt officiating. Burial was in the Custer Center Cemetery with Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Look Good Feel Better, Custer Care Center or the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Fund.
