Anthony Dale Blum, 24 years of age from Broken Bow, formerly of the Hildreth-Minden area, died on Friday, June 1, 2012, as a result of a traffic accident near Ansley. Anthony was born on August 8, 1987, in Minden, NE, to Dale and Jane (Schwartz) Blum. He grew up in the Hildreth-Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 2006. Anthony attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Bachelors’ Degree in Business Education. He taught business education and was the boys’ basketball coach and FBLA Advisor in Broken Bow. The Minden and Broken Bow teams made a special bond during the time Anthony coached. While in Lincoln he helped coach basketball at Lincoln High. Anthony loved coaching and, as he coached, he was always teaching. He also coached baseball and refereed many games. He loved to golf, especially with his family. His family was very close to him. They all enjoyed singing, the family trips to Mexico with special family friends, Steve and Jody Casper, playing cards with the family, and sports of all kinds. Anthony enjoyed following the Braves, Cowboys, the Magic, and Huskers. He was a sociable person who always had a smile on his face. He loved God, his family, kids and coaching, and he truly felt that Broken Bow was his new home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in his name.
