James Reed

James E. Reed age 91 of Broken Bow died June 6, 2012 at Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held Monday June 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary with Floyd Ditson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Interment will be in the Custer Center Cemetery. Mr. Reed was born September 10, 1920 at Broken Bow to James and Nancy (Ditson) Reed. He grew up in Custer County and moved to Dunning in May of 1940. He married May Peirson November 30, 1940. They lived in the Dunning area until 1954 when they moved twenty five miles north of Thedford. They later lived west of Wood Lake before moving back to Dunning. They later moved to Maxwell in 1957, the Pressey Park area in 1961, Cumro 1963 until 1966, lived at Dunning from 1966 until 1981 when they moved to Broken Bow. He was a member of the Custer Campers, Golden Wheels, National Hikers and Campers Association, card club, he enjoyed playing pitch and loved to play pool. Survivors include one daughter Nelda (Willis) Russell of Broken Bow, four grandchildren, Gena (Thomas) Sprague of Loveland, CO. Brandon Russell of Broken Bow, Sarah Russell of Broken Bow and James (Kelley) Russell of Thorton, CO. ,two great grandchildren Annamarie May Russell and Danica Diane Russell both of Thorton, CO. , step grandchildren Joseph and Isaiah Sprague of Loveland, CO. James also claims Peggy (Glen) Birney and children, Micky (Tony) and children and Jeffrey McDermott and children. One sister Edna Schear of Gordon, NE and one brother Harlan Reed of Readsburg, WI., many cousins, nephews and nieces.
