Johnson Lake, NE- Gilbert Horn age 80 of Johnson Lake, died Wednesday August 15, 2012 at the Lexington Regional Medical Center in Lexington.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday August 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Burr Oak Church south of Broken Bow with the Rev. David Harder officiating. A register book may be signed at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials may be given to the Burr Oak Church.
Gilbert C. Horn was born on September 3, 1931 in the Burr Oak Community south of Broken Bow to Leo and Louise (Davis) Horn. He attended rural school and graduated from Broken Bow High School. After his schooling Gilbert worked on the family ranch. In 1950 he married Donna Bubak. To this union was born Tim, Cyndi, and Ben. In 1974 he was married to Audrey (Johnson) Freeze. The couple lived on the ranch. In 1993 they moved to Johnson Lake. Mrs. Horn died in 2003. In 2008 Gilbert was married to Marjorie Johnson. They made their home at Johnson Lake.
Gilbert was a 4-H leader, FFA Sponsor, Cosmo Group at Johnson Lake, and worked for many years at Farm Bureau. Gilbert loved the lake, hunting, fishing and camping with the grandkids.
Gilbert is survived by his wife Marge Horn of Johnson Lake, his children; Tim (Kelly) Horn of Hemingford, NE, Cyndi (Jeff) Boesch of Lexington, NE, Ben (Barb) Horn of Overton, Duane (Kathy) Freeze of Kearney, Gene (special friend Carol) Freeze of Kearney, Twila (CA) Owen of Winner, SD, Gary Lee (Audrey) Avery of Rapid City, SD, and Kammi Sue (Dean) Huxoll of Arapahoe, NE, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Audrey, step son Kim Avery, brother Elwood, and two sisters Leona and Elma.
