Dean "Bud" Wood

Dean “Bud” Eldon Wood age 81, of Kearney, Nebraska, died Tuesday September 18th, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held Friday September 21st at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney, Ne. with Rev. Duane Duley officiating. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery at Sumner, Ne. with Military Honors at 2 p.m. Visitation will be Thursday Sept 20th at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 o 7 p.m. Dean “Bud” Eldon Wood was born May 7, 1931 in Custer County to Leo R. and Ruth E. (Summers) Wood. On September 25, 1955 he married Verna Neben in Lexington, Ne. at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Dean went into business with his father and brother in law Martin Schipporeit, ranching, near Cumro Community. They moved to Kearney, Ne. in 1991. Dean is survived by his wife Verna Wood of Kearney, Ne. daughter Kim and husband Mike Mooney of Broken Bow, Ne. 3 granddaughters Lisa Vraspir, Marcy Yates, and Nikki Mooney, and 5 great grandchildren, sister Dona Schipporeit of Broken Bow, Ne. and Wanda Jackson of Fort Worth, TX. Dean was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Martin.
