Craig Dale Lindly died October 1, 2012 at the UN Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.
Craig was born on February 27, 1962 to Leonard and Ruth (Muhlbach) Lindly. His early years were spent on the family farm near Anselmo. One of his passions was riding his bicycle on the gravel roads near the farm and sometime on the asphalt away from the farm, once even riding the 19 miles into Broken Bow. Craig enjoyed music and learned to play the piano in the 6th grade. In 1976 Craig was a contestant in the Flying Farmers & Ranchers talent contest in Norfolk, Virginia with a piano solo “Moonlight Sonata #2” by Beethoven.
Craig graduated from Anselmo-Merna High School in 1980. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and took his basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. He was later stationed at Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls, Montana. Craig was stationed in Korea with the Red Horse Squadron for 18 months, then in California where he was honorably discharged in 1986.
Craig decided to stay in California and made a living by driving a taxi, first in San Francisco then in Sacramento. Craig always had an interest in photography and in 1994 he entered the “Photographic Magazine’s” ‘September Bridges’ and earned an honorable mention with his nighttime photo of the Tower Bridge in Sacramento. Other hobbies included using his amateur radio equipment and finding deals at flea markets.
Craig is survived by his parents, two brothers Kevin (Marilyn) of Broken Bow, Ross (Brenda) of Everett, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; close friends in Sacramento, Jerry, Kevin, Phil, Fred, Mora, Claire, and Mike, the master gardener among others.
Craig was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and an older brother Mark.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery at Anselmo with Military Honors. Memorials have been established to the Shriner’s Hospital. Visitation will be held on Friday 8 AM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary, with the family greeting friends 5 PM to 6 PM.
