Ruth Babcock

Waverly, NE- Ruth Babcock age 96 of Waverly formerly of Arcadia, died Friday November 2, 2012 at the Waverly Care Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Berean Church in Broken Bow with Elder Jack Robinson and Pastor Larry DeMoss officiating. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday 8 AM to 8 PM with the family greeting friends 6 PM to 7 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Fire and Rescue, Radio Bible Class or the Gideons International. Ruth was born September 1, 1916 at West Point, NE to John and Jane (Long) Johnson. She was married to Chester Milton Babcock on February 23, 1935 at Loup City, NE. Three sons were born to this union, Gary, Vernon and Chester Jr. Chester Sr. died on December 28, 2001. Ruth is survived by son Gary and wife Carolyn of Waverly, NE, son Vernon and wife June of Broken Bow, NE, and son Chester Jr. and wife Fern of Greenwood, NE, 11 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, 5 brothers, and 7 sisters. At the time of her passing Ruth was a member of the Rosemont Alliance Church in Lincoln, NE. She and Chester were longtime residents of the Arcadia and Ansley communities and devoted members of the Arcadia Independent Church before moving to the Lincoln area due to failing health. Ruth was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and spent many hours studying and memorizing Scripture up until just days before her passing. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and listening to Gospel music.
