Jerry Tapper
Jerry Andrew Tapper, the youngest of three children, was born in Chicago, Illinois to Warren and Ethel Tapper on October 27, 1956. He departed this world December 29, 2012. He leaves to mourn his passing his sister Joyce Stewart and husband Dick, nephews Cory Stewart and his wife Gabrielle, Adam Stewart and his wife Erin, grand nephew Mason and grand nieces Hailey, Chloe, Emma and Courtney, special friends Laura and Leroy Lindner, his MNIS family, and a host of community friends.
Jerry spent his early years in Arlington Heights, Illinois and moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1959. In the mid 60’s he moved to Broken Bow with his mother. He attended Broken Bow Cooperative where he received special education. In 1974 he entered MNIS. Jerry was a familiar sight in the community wearing his signature suit jacket, his fedora, and carrying his briefcase. He enjoyed stopping in to nearly every store in the community. He especially took pleasure in his trips to Florida to visit his beloved sister Joyce and her family. He loved going there for Christmas and looked forward to the plane ride that would take him there. He always had wonderful adventures in Florida, going out to lunch with Dick and his cronies, going to the sea aquarium, touring a fire station, visiting in his nephews’ homes, or playing a competitive round of miniature golf. Perhaps the biggest highlight of his Florida trips was when he got to go to the Orange Bowl to watch Nebraska play! He cheered on the Huskers with the best of them. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Jack.
