Evelyn Margaret (Smith) Fowler was born September 6, 1917 near Nesbit, Nebraska, which was about 9 miles west Stapleton, Nebraska. She left the loving care at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, Nebraska and departed this life on January 15, 2013 at 7:40 p.m. At that same moment she was welcomed by her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ into her new and eternal home. She was greeted by Her husband John Mervin, her Father Harry “Bud“, Smith, Mother Beatrice“Birdie”Echo (Heldenbrand) Smith, Sister Vera June (Smith) Miller, Little Brother Charles Oscar Smith and a host of family and friends.
Margaret attended her elementary years at Rural School District No. 16, Cottonwood Grove in McPherson County and graduated from Baker Rural High School at Stapleton. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at 12 years of age, and attended Sunday School and Church at the school. She received her teaching certificate and taught rural grade school in McPherson County for several years. She married young cowboy-cattle-rancher Mervin Fowler at her home on December 24, 1937. They lived and ranched near Stapleton, and Brewster, until Mervin’s death in 1977. She then lived at Seneca, Colorado Springs, and Ord. Margaret was always active in her church, teaching Bible, Music. She became an accomplished artist. She memorized hundreds of Bible verses.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a stepmother, Hattie Holmberg, little brother Charles Oscar Smith, Sister Vera June Smith Miller, and one great grandson
She leaves to cherish her memory, Son, Richard (Joyce) Fowler, Ord NE., Daughter Caroline (Dennis) Ritchey, Ponca, NE, Son, Larry (Diane) Fowler, Riverside, CA., 2 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, and 21 great grand children .
Before her home-going she requested “not a funeral
but a Victory Celebration because of our Precious Lord Jesus, who won the victory long ago.” She requested that Pastor Dennis Ritchey share the message to “family and friends of the joy of knowing the safety of being in the care of the loving hands of the Lord Jesus, God of gods, King of kings forever.” Pastor Don Schauda and the Blowers Family will provide music.

Memorial Service: Friday, January 25, 2013 at 3:00p.m at Ord Evangelical Free Church
