Lucile Doris Whitney, age 96, of Broken Bow died Friday Feb 1, 2013 at Heritage Hall care home in Broken Bow, Ne.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Feb 7 at 10 a.m. in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Rev. Scott Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the
Custer Center Cemetery near Broken Bow. Visitation will be Wednesday Feb 6th at Govier Brothers Mortuary 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be offered to the Doulos Discovery School.
Lucile Doris Whitney was born December 30, 1916 in Columbus City, Iowa to Orin Chalmers and Grace (Hammond) Daily. She attended school and graduated from Milburn, High School. Lucile than attended Kearney Teachers College for 2 years to get her teaching certificate. on February 11, 1939 Lucile married Burnard M. Whitney in Loup City, Ne. They made their home on a farm in the Custer Center area near Broken Bow.
Lucile is survived by her husband Burnard Whitney of Broken Bow. Son John and wife Beth Whitney of Broken Bow. Daughter in law Darlene Whitney of Broken Bow. Sister Marjorie and Husband Howard Russell of Gates, Ne. sister in law Ruth McCauley of Grand Island, Ne. 6 grandchildren Lynne and Jim Purcell of Tucson, Arizona, Lori and Tim Jensen of Grand Island, Ne. Robin Whitney of Ansley, Ne., Mark Whitney of Beatrice, Ne., Ron and Susan Whitney of Lincoln, Ne., and Becky and Bill Stadler of Hatley, Wisconsin. 7 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Lucile was preceded in death by a son Clifford, brother Myron Daily, sisters Vera Judge, and Mabel Holmes, and brother in law Robert McCauley.
