The angels came for Dollie Garris, Sunday February 24, 2013, 91 of Broken Bow, formerly of Sargent.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 27, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Chaplain Steve Shanno officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Sargent, NE with Pastor Marvin Bauer officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 8 AM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Dollie was born on April 30, 1921, northeast of Broken Bow to Thomas and Nettie Grim. She graduated from Westerville School in 1939, in the biggest class of 10 students. Dollie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ted Garris on September 7, 1952. On December 16th, 1957, two daughters Betty Jo and Donna joined this union. Dollie was an excellent cook. She worked along side Ted with farming, milking cows, and whatever else needed done, on their farm in Cummings Park, northwest of Sargent. In 1963 they sold the farm and bought the Sunset Motel in Sargent, which they continued to run and drove a school bus until 1992, when they retired.
Dollie moved to Off Broadway in Broken Bow, following the death of her husband in 2002. Dollie loved to play cards and was an avid Husker fan.
She is survived by her daughters Betty Jo Dettoff, of Alaska, and Donna (John) Beavers of Broken Bow, grandsons Tom Kyne and Cory Beavers, granddaughter Dollie (Sissy) Gates, great grandson Brian, great granddaughters Rachel and Christina, 2 very special girls Michelle and Brooklynn, adopted daughter Kim Fiorelli, nieces, nephews and by her very best friend Gracie Knapp.
She is preceeded in death by her husband Ted, 1 infant daughter, sisters Vella and Goldie, brothers Avola and Jack, and a sister Nola, 1 granddaughter Heather Jo Beavers Wilson.
