Lincoln, NE- Karen Shea, age 31 Karen Luann Shea was called home to the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was born on September 17, 1981 to Louis Baumann and Alice Lucas. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 2000. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Mary Lanning School of Radiologic Technology in Hastings, NE, with a degree in Radiography. She also earned a degree in Diagnostic Sonography from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. She worked as a sonographer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She also studied under the doctors there learning the latest techniques in sonography. She married Justin Shea in 2007 and to this union was born a son, Jameson, the light of her life. They lived in Lincoln for 5 years. Survivors include her husband Justin and son Jameson of Lincoln, mother Alice and stepfather Jerome Lucas of Broken Bow; father Louis and stepmother Nancy Baumann of Goodview, VA; sister Kelly (Matt) Schall and their children Alex, Hannah, Ty and Lincoln, of Kearney; sister Kim (JR) Coble and their children Qwentin and Eli of Broken Bow, mother and father-in-law, Joe and Sandra Shea of Broken Bow; half sister Jackie Cooper of Washington DC; grandmother Alice Williams of West Berlin, NJ; brothers-in-laws Tyler (Darci) Shea and their children Jocelyn and Keelyn of Broken Bow, and Colby (Jessica) Shea of Lincoln, also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Broken Bow. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. A register book may be signed at Govier Bros. Mortuary or online at www.govierbrothers.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial college fund will be established in Karen’s name with the recipient being our son, Jameson.
