At one week of age, Louie and his family moved to the family ranch in southern Cherry County, Nebraska. Louie began school at the Mullen Grade School in 1939. In 1945, the family moved to Broken Bow, NE and that was where Louie graduated from High School in 1948. This was followed by a two year college course at South Dakota State in Springfield, SD. After college, Louie worked at the family enterprise, “Court Perfect” in Broken Bow in between jobs at local ranches, until his friends and neighbors requested his presence in the US Army. He then served a 2 year assignment in Alaska. In 1954, Louie was married to Marilyn Haumont. Three children were born of this union, Terri Jones of Cortex, Colorado, Mikki Pulse, “anywhere USA”, and Jerry Murray of Wray, Colorado. From their children, there are 4 grandchildren, Ty Jones, Jenna Pulse, Jessica and Bailey Murray. After the marriage of Louie and Marilyn ended, Louie met his partner, Helen North, and after a few years they were married in Masonville, Colorado in 1989. To this marriage, Helen brought 3 children, Gary North, Mylie Cottingham and Brian North. During their years of marriage, they enjoyed Helen's grandchildren as well, Morgan Blom, Oceanna North, Ryan, Lane and Levi Cottingham, Matthew and Jerek Trathen. Ever the consummate salesman, Louie sold appliances at the Gambles Store in Broken Bow; Beer, Pizzas and Italian food at Guisseppis in Fort Collins. Following his separation from Marilyn, he moved to Wray, CO, where he operated Tristate Safety, selling fire safety equipment to local families. Later, he and Helen relocated to Holyoke after Helen had been appointed as Postmaster. In Holyoke, Louie served a term on the City Council, enjoyed helping the Korte family, Stan Willmon and Naomi Newman with their farms, John Jaegar & Jan Stoddard with planting windbreaks for pheasant habitat restoration. Besides spending his time being a good neighbor to all, he also greatly enjoyed the outdoors, spending much time with friends Dan Miller and Gene Harmon both fishing. May he rest in peace. Memorial graveside services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Broken Bow Cemetery with Reverend Todd Karges officiating.
