Broken Bow, NE- Louise E. Schmidt, age 94 of Merna, died Thursday February 13, 2014 at the Heritage Hall Care Home in Broken Bow.  Funeral services will be held on Monday February 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Reverend Dawn Black officiating and rites by the Broken Bow D.O.E.S. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Sunday, 1 PM to 6 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Broken Bow D.O.E.S.  Louise E. Schmidt was born on May 1, 1919, in the Cliff Table Community, west of Merna, Nebraska to Loren and Lizzie (Milligan) White. She attended school at Cliff Table and later Merna High School. On May 29, 1941 Louise was married to Raymond Schmidt at Broken Bow. In 1945, Louise and Raymond purchased a farm on Cliff Table from Carl Rose. Here they lived and raised their two sons; Wayne and Dale. Wayne died in an accident in 1966. Raymond died in 1989. Louise continued to live on the farm until the fall of 2013, when her health required her to move to Heritage Hall Care Home.  Louise loved to travel. Her and Raymond, and later Dale spent many winters in Arizona. She was always ready for a trip to the Casino. In her younger years, Louise enjoyed sewing and knitting. Louise was a charter member of the Broken Bow D.O.E.S. and was a member of the S.O.S. club.  Louise is survived by her son Dale of Merna, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Wayne, her husband Raymond, her brother Floyd and her sister Rema.
