Glen Birney

Broken Bow, NE – Glen C. Birney, age 52, died Sunday March 23, 2014 at his home near Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 27, 2014, at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, NE with Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday 8 AM to 8 PM at Govier Bros Mortuary, with the family greeting friends 6 PM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials may be given to the family, to be designated at a later date. Glen C. Birney was born October 21,1961 to Clemet and Arlene Birney in Denison, Iowa. He attended grade school and junior high in Denison before moving to Broken Bow, Nebraska with his family in 1976. He attended Broken Bow High School where he developed his love of carpentry and woodworking. After graduation in 1980 he worked in construction and worked at the local lumberyard. He married Peg Bleick July 7, 1985 and welcomed two children with that union-Mickie and Jeff. His family was the world to him. Glen was preceded in death by one grandson Taten, one niece Heather and his father Clemet. Survivors include his wife Peg, his children Mickie(Tony) Haney, Jeff McDermott, grandchildren Krystanna, Andrea, Tanner, Taylor, Peyton, mother Arlene Birney, brother Robert(Susan)Birney, sisters Sharon Hansen, Bonnie(Kevin)Wright, sister in law Donna(George)Land, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends.
