Max Earl Mattox, age 86, of Broken Bow died Wednesday April 2, 2014 at his farm home near Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 5th, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Pastor Doug Saner officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military rites. Visitation will be Friday April 4 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A memorial will be designated at a later date.
Max was born January 30, 1928 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to William W. and Virginia (Apperson) Mattox. He attended country school and graduated for Broken Bow High School. Max served his country during the Korean War 1951-1952. On December 21, 1952 Max married Donna Brown in Seattle, Washington. The couple farmed in the Broken Bow area.
Max is survived by his wife Donna Mattox of Broken Bow, daughter Deborah Mattox of Broken Bow, 3 sons Russell Mattox and special friend Dawn of Broken Bow, David (Stacey) Mattox of Broken Bow, Phillip (Dana) Mattox of Lubbock, Tx., 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Brother Dale (Beverly) Mattox of Wyoming, sister Darlene Mattox of Broken Bow, brother Joe (Neva) Mattox of Broken Bow, sister Carolyn (Roger) Miles of Lincoln, sister in law Louella Mattox of Bakersfield, Ca., and brother in law Orville Harrold of Broken Bow. Max was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, and an infant daughter Gaylene.
