Broken Bow, NE- Elizabeth Brown, age 83 of Broken Bow formerly of Arcadia, died Friday May 9, 2014 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 13, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow, with Rev. Seth Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcadia Cemetery. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Monday, 8 AM to 8 PM, with the family greeting friends 6 PM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Fire and Rescue Department.
Elizabeth D. Brown was born on April 24, 1931 at Arcadia, NE to Charles W. and Alpha (Lindell) Nygren. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1949. On April 18, 1949 she was married to Kenneth Brown at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia. Elizabeth and Kenneth made their home east of Arcadia until 1959, when they moved north of Arcadia to the Nygren home place. The family farmed in the Arcadia area. Kenneth and Elizabeth continued to live here until 2001 when they moved to Broken Bow. Mr. Brown died in 2004.
Through the years Elizabeth and Kenneth would spend winters in Texas. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, sewing, and was a great cook. She belonged to the Hayes Creek Club.
Elizabeth is survived by her two sons; Donald (Karyl) of Burwell, and Raymond (Janice) of Arcadia, a daughter; Carolyn (Mike) Imlay of Grand Island, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also survived by her special friends; Marilyn Hyatt and Rita Coakley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, and an infant grandson Jason.
