Larry D Caudle, age 67, of Merna, Nebraska died Sunday June 15, 2014 at his home in Merna. Ne. Memorial services will be held Friday June 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anselmo Merna High School Gymnasium with Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Larry Caudle passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 15, 2014. He was born in Omaha ,Nebraska on August 31, 1946 to Floyd and Opal (Barnard) Caudle. Larry attended high school in Tekamah, Nebraska, graduating in 1964. After graduation, he attended Wayne State College where he was a member of the Tigers football team. He graduated with a BA in education. Larry began his teaching career in the Nehawka school system. He was able to stay only a year at this position, because his father fell ill and he took a job to be closer to his father. After his father's passing Larry returned to teaching and coaching at North Loup-Scotia. In 1975 Larry married Vickie Hanson, and to this union four daughters were born. Larry then moved to Chambers where he was a teacher and coach for 2 years. He continued his education completing his degree in Administration. He then accepted a position in June of 1978 to become the principal at Anselmo-Merna Public Schools. Larry and Vickie later divorced. Larry married Teresa Leachman in 1997. Larry continued his administrative duties until 2003 when he retired. After his retirement from his administrative duties he returned to the Anselmo-Merna school system as a bus driver where he continued to enjoy all of his bus kids. Sports were a large part of his life. He was an athletic director, coach and the voice of the coyotes. Larry logged thousands of miles following coyote athletics. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his girls participating in different sports and activities. He was also an avid Husker fan. Larry greatly enjoyed attending his grandchildrens' sports and activities. Larry was proceeded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Larry is survived by his wife, Teresa of Merna. Daughters Melissa (Jason) Larson of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Alicia Powers of Germany, Breanna Caudle and husband Justin Wacker of Omaha, Nebraska and Gina (Ryan) Geppert of Sioux Falls South Dakota. Larry was blessed with 8 grandchildren. Lindsay Powers of Columbus, NE, Olivia Powers of Germany, Isaac, Matthew, Carter and William Larson of Dardenne Prairie, MO and Grant and Evyn Geppert of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by his sister Venice Sedlacek of Loveland CO.
