Lois Elaine Wood age 81 of Loup City formerly of Mason City died June 19, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be held Monday June 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mason City with Pastor Doug Deneui officiating. Interment will be in the Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or Homeward Trail Bible Camp.
Lois was born April 26, 1933 at Broken Bow to Abram Percy and Anna (Lucas) Beman. She grew up in the Cherryville community and also in Arcadia where she received her education graduating in 1950. She worked for the telephone company in Arcadia and later for a nursing home in Broken Bow. On June 10, 1951 she married Kenneth Wood at the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow.
They made their home on the family farm near Eddyville before moving to the ranch at Ericson where they lived from 1968 until 1974. They later moved to Mason City where the made their home. Kenneth died on April 24, 2003. Lois lived in Mason City until moving to Rose Hill Nursing Home in Loup City one year ago.
Lois enjoyed spending time with family and friends, coffee time, junk jaunt, garage sales, quilting, crafting and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Gene (Susan) Wood of Mason City, Barb (Gary) Petska of Omaha, Lonnie (Betty) Wood of Ericson, Doyle (Londa) Wood of Berwyn and Shirley “Charlie” (Gary) Trojan of Burwell. Fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, one brother John Delmar, and one great grandchild.
