Lorraine A. Scott, 83, Broken Bow, formally of Ansley died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sargent instead of St. Joseph's in Broken Bow due to fire, with the Rev. Hugh Spanel officiating. Burial will be at Ansley Cemetery. Visitation will be at Govier Brothers Mortuary from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27 with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m. Rosary will follow at 6:00 p.m. Lorraine was born July 1, 1931, to Frank and Barbara (Slegel) Brim in rural Sargent. She attended Roe Grove Rural School as a child and graduated from Sargent High School in 1948. Lorraine worked at Reier Department Store and the Sargent Bank. On May 18, 1959, Lorraine married Ralph Scott in Sargent. Ralph and Lorraine danced and dated at Oscar’s Palladium and National Hall. They made their home and raised their children in Ansley, Nebraska. Survivors include sons: Jerry (Diane) and Jim (Shelly), both of Broken Bow; daughters: Judy (James) Moore of Kearney, Jill (Shane) Rohde of Mason City, and Joan Scott of Indianapolis; eleven grandchildren: Nikki, Noel and Nathan Scott, Matthew and Cameron Moore, Skylar, Siera and Landon Rohde, Krisha, Kailyn and Kya Scott. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in their activities. Lorraine loved to cook, sew and care for her family. She will be remembered for her chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes. Lorraine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ansley and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #153. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, parents, sisters Rosie Chalupa and Alice Chalupa and brother Frank Brim. Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Foundation in care of Scott Family/Ansley Public School Scholarship. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
