Bernice Marie Blakeman

Bernice M. Blakeman, age 94 of Broken Bow, died Tuesday August 19, 2014 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Bernice was born September 7, 1919 at Callaway to John P. and Anna M.L. (Schmidt) Blakeman. She graduated from Merna High School in 1940. Bernice spent her entire life on the family farm and ranch on Cliff Table west of Merna. In 2000 she moved to Broken Bow with her sister Ilene. She is a past member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxliary. Bernice enjoyed feeding and watching the many wild birds that frequented her yard. She is survived by her sister Ilene Blakeman of Broken Bow and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Harold D. Blakeman. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 8 AM until 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Anselmo-Merna Scholarship Fund.
