Broken Bow, NE – Edna Prestes age 98 of Broken Bow formerly of Dunning, died Saturday September 6, 2014 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 11, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Sandhills Community Church in Dunning, NE with Rev. Lee Wonch officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery at 2:00 PM mountain time. Visitation will be held on Wednesday 8 AM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials are to the family for designation at a later date. Edna Prestes was born on February 22, 1916 at Sundance, WY to Ralph and Lucina (Bruner) Partlow. Edna attended school at Sundance and had one year of Normal Training. She taught country school for 2 years. On September 5, 1937 she was married to John Prestes at Sundance. One son John Allen was born on March 4, 1939. The family moved to Belle Fourche, SD where they lived until 1942. They then moved to Lewellen, NE to work on the Joe Orr Ranch. A daughter Linda was born on March 21, 1945. The family returned to Sundance until 1952. They then moved to Ericson, NE to work on a ranch until 1962. They moved to Ogallala in 1963. Mr. Prestes died in March of 1984. Edna moved to Dunning in 1987, and later moved to Broken Bow to Liberty Square, Independence Hall and then Heritage Hall. Edna enjoy crocheting, making blankets for the grandchildren. Edna is survived by her daughter Linda (Jim) Reiter of Dunning, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son and daughter in law John Allen and June Prestes, 2 sisters; Iva and Jessie, 1 brother; Edgar, and one great grandson.
