Glenn E. Halouska, age 94, of Broken Bow, formerly of Sargent, Ne. died Friday September 19, 2014 at the Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 23, at 10 a.m. in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Monday September 22 at Govier Brothers from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Family will greet friends Monday evening 6 PM to 7 Pm at Govier Bros. Mortuary. A memorial will be established at a later date.
Glenn Edsel Halouska was born southeast of Arnold, Ne on January 6, 1920 to Frank and Rosa Mary (Beckler) Halouska. Glenn attended Pleasant Hill school near his home and later farmed and worked on his father’s threshing crew.
Glenn served the United States Army during WWII in Africa and Italy. On April 21, 1953 he married Marion Gehrman and they made their home in Sargent, Ne for 57 years, before moving to Off Broadway Apt. in Broken Bow. Glenn was a mechanic for International in Sargent for many years. He later worked as janitor at Sargent Public School, before retiring.
Glenn is survived by one daughter Diane (Doug) Stamm of Eddyville. Granddaughter Mindy (Brian) Lavicky of Axtell, and grandson Greg (Echo) Penny of Wallace, Ne. 6 great grandchildren Taaron James and Kolton Eli Lawicky of Axtell and Riley Grace, Kora Ann, Parker Glenn, and Emmett Douglas Penny of Wallace. One sister in law Jean Halouska of Canton, New York. Numerous special neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his, wife, parents, brothers Clarence, Joe, Ralph, Albert, Milford, and sisters Gladys, Nellie, Veva “Lou”, and Ethel.
