Frank Lanka, age 78 of Omaha, died Wednesday October 1, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services will be held on Monday October 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Broken Bow Cemetery with Reverend Jurdan Counts officiating.
Frank was born on July 19, 1936 at Ogallala, NE to Frank and Grace (Hayes) Lanka. Frank excelled in football and in track at Stapleton High School, and held the discus throwing record at Stapleton High School for many years. He loved football.
Frank grew up on a ranch and was in agriculture all of his life. He drove a cattle truck for several years. He has bought and sold cattle as his profession, he strongly believed in integrity in his business.
He served in the United States Army, August of 1955 through May 29, 1957.
Frank is survived by his daughters; Shawn Lanka of Omaha, and Tanya (Al) Lomeli of Fresno, CA, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, two brothers Clarence (Judy) Lanka of Stapleton, Kenneth "Ed" Lanka of Fulton, Illinois, a sister Lorna (George) Lane of Kearney, and a sister-in-law Marian Lanka of Stapleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. and Grace Lanka, a brother Elton Lanka, and a son Barry Lanka.
