Stuart, NE – Wilda Jackson age 77 of Stuart passed away Monday October 27, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Bassett, NE with Reverend Rodney Heibrun officiating. Burial will be in the Bassett Cemetery. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday October 31, 2014 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to service time at the United Methodist Church in Bassett.
Memorials may be made to the Newport Community Fire Hall.
Wilda Jackson was born on November 4, 1936 at Brewster, NE to Gwynne and Gertrude (Ewing) Neubauer. Wilda attended school in Brewster graduating in 1954. Wilda taught school in the fall of 1954 and 1955 at the Sybrant School in Rock County. In 1956 she worked at the Farmer’s Union Store in Brewster. Then in 1957, Wilda returned to teaching at the Duff School in Rock County. On March 8, 1958 she was married to Dale Jackson at O’Neill. Two children were born to this union; Warren and Ronda. Through the years Dale and Wilda worked for various ranches in the Sandhills.
In 1968, Wilda and Dale formed a band with Mr. and Mrs. Don Dimmitt of Ord, call the “Cowtown Four”. Approximately six years later, it was necessary for Mr. and Mrs. Dimmitt to leave the band. Wilda and Dale’s children Warren and Ronda joined the band.
Wilda is survived by her son Warren (Deb) Jackson of Valentine, her daughter Ronda Jackson of Lincoln, four grandchildren; Michaela, Savannah, Katelynn, and Brennann, Sisters; Dora Johnson of Elwood and Marcia Elliott of Casper, WY, and two sisters-in-laws Ardith (Richard) Goochey of Ainsworth, and Ellen Jackson of Bassett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, sister Renna Ritchie and sister Meda Simmons.
