Howard Pracht

Broken Bow, NE- Howard Pracht, age 89 of Broken Bow, died on December 1, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow with Rev. Jurdan Counts officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Sunday, 1 PM to 6 PM with the family greeting friends 4 PM to 5 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Gideon’s Bibles or the 1st Baptist Church. Howard Leighton Pracht was born on June 27, 1925 to Oliver and Alma (Harmon) Pracht at Berwyn, NE. Howard accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 14, and was baptized in the Church of God at Weissert, NE. Howard married Dorthy Fox on his birthday June 27, 1945. Howard and Dorthy farmed for 15 years before moving to Broken Bow in 1960. After farming, Howard worked for Bates Implement. He then moved the family to Milford, NE to study electronics at Nebraska Vocational Technical School. The family returned to Broken Bow where Howard worked for Triplett’s. He opened Arrow Radio, but was soon offered a position with Cable Vision. Howard worked with cable tv in Broken Bow and in Wayne. For a time, Howard and Dorthy worked for Lowell Lundstrom as an advance team, for the crusade. Howard and Eugene opened a Radio Shack franchise adjoining Dorthy’s Keystone Book Store. Howard served in the community through the First Baptist Church, with Boy Scouts Troop #130, and with Gideon International. Howard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorthy, his two sons Eugene (Kaylene) Pracht of Broken Bow, and Dale (Alice) Pracht of Norfolk, NE, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, one sister Norma Curtis of Broken Bow, and many nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Donna Mae Skinner, and Erma Douglass; one brother Loyd Pracht; two daughters in laws Nancy (Stithem) Pracht and Gretta (Cole) Pracht.
