Donald Gouldie

Donald Bradford Gouldie was born December 8, 1930 at Stamford NE. His mother was Sylvia Ellen (Goosic) Gouldie and his father, Thomas John Gouldie. Don was an only child. His mother remarked that when he was born, she knew she would never do better so he remained an only child. Don attended Stamford elementary through the 8th grade and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1948. Don attended Hastings College then joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served aboard the USS Montrose from May 1950 to April of 1954. He was honorably discharged in October 1954. Don was united in marriage to Juanita Gonzalez on May 13, 1958 and to this union one son, Michael Jay, was born on December 11, 1962. Don held numerous sales positions and traveled extensively through the Midwest. He owned and operated Grantree Gallery in Siloam Springs Arkansas before selling it and retiring. Don and Shirley were married on June 30, 1996 and have been engaged in ranching near Dunning, Nebraska. Don was preceded in death by his parents and he leaves to mourn his wife Shirley, son Michael, as well as Russ and Sandra Kasson, Brad and Faith Mellema, and Jeff Kennedy. He was a wonderful grandfather to Kaylie & Micah Sirek, Ben Mellema, Sam Mellema, Sophie Mellema, Season Mellema, Alex Gouldie, Levi Gouldie, Taylor & Shelbea Gouldie, and great-grandson Dexter. Don was baptized in the Christian Church at Stamford. He accepted Christ as his savior and is a member and Elder of the Open Bible Church in Dunning. He will be remembered for the unusual kindness he showed to family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Don Gouldie age 84 of Dunning died Wednesday December 24, 2014 at the CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Open Bible Church in Dunning with Rev. Ralph McKay officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Dunning Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Blaine County Area Community Foundation.
