Betty Jean Hagan (1927-2015)
Betty Jean Hagan of Mason City, Nebraska died at Good Samaritan Hospital Saturday, January 31, 2015.
Services for her will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 5, at the First Baptist Church of Mason City, Nebraska. Reverend Rodger McDermott will officiate and burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday, February 4 at the Mason City Baptist Church, with family in attendance. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.
Betty was born in Campbell Ne, October 20, 1927 to John and Jewel Golter. She attended country schools near Campbell and Arnold Nebraska and high school in Sumner, Nebraska.
On July 4, 1944, Betty married Louis Hagan in Norton Kansas. To this union, nine children were born.
The couple lived in several small Nebraska towns including Overton, Bladen, Cairo, Trenton, Cody, and Mason City.
Betty and Louis, with many friends and family, celebrated their 70th anniversary last July.
Betty Hagan was active in the Mason City Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Community Service Club, Historical Society, Auxillary, and Womans’ Club. Her hobbies included, gardening, auctions, and entertaining family, friends, and grandchildren.
Survivors include Husband, Louis Hagan, of Mason City, Children, Korene (husband, Ted) Johnson of Hillsboro, Oregon, Linda (husband Dick) Almquist of Axtell Nebraska, June (husband, Dan) Wiese also from Axtell, Shirley (husband, Bill) Gilbreath of Axtell, Mary (husband, Jim) Madsen of Litchfield, Nebraska, Jim (wife, Vickie) Hagan of Winchester, Virginia, Brenda(husband, Scott) Stupka of Anselmo, Nebraska, Dennie (wife, Jody ) Hagan of Hayes, Kansas. Betty Hagan also had 26 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and three great, great, grandchildren. Her large family loved her and she loved sharing their photos and spending time with all of them.
Betty was preceded in death by parents, Jewel and John Golter, brother Darel (wife, Hazel) Golter, infant daughter, Connie, and infant grandson, Derrick Hagan.
Memorials are suggested to Mason City First Baptist Church or to Mason City Fire and Rescue.
