Hazel Furrow

Hazel M. Furrow age 78, of North Platte died February 25, 2015 at the Great Plains Health Center in North Platte, NE. Hazel Marie (Trotter) Furrow, was born August 12, 1936 to Gary and Mary (Fricke) Trotter in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Hazel grew up in Broken Bow and graduated from high school in 1955. Hazel was united in marriage to Virgil Eldon Furrow. They moved together to Dunning, Nebraska in 1957 and worked for Shinn’s Turkey Ranch for 30 years. To this union 4 children were born. In 1991 Hazel and Virgil moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska where they enjoyed many years together before Virgil’s passing in 1998. In early 2008 Hazel moved to North Platte into her own apartment in Linden Estates. Here she was able to make many new friends and in August 2008 she started dialysis. She later moved to Centennial Park Retirement Home. Hazel will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Those left to mourn the loss of Hazel are her children; 3 sons, Gene (Nellie) Furrow of Brady, Austin Furrow of Riverton, WY, Kenneth (Natalie) Furrow of North Platte, 1 daughter, Evelyn (Jim) Davis of North Platte, 10 grandchildren; Craig (Nichole), Cari (Henry), Chance, Lacey (Robert), Ashley (Chance), Kayla (Shadoe), Clinton, Kord, Neela, and Lynn (Rito) 6 great-grandchildren; Ashford, Mathyis, Gabe, Anthony, Abel, David, and Brandon, special friends; Mike and Jan Barner and numerous other family and friends. Including, all of her special friends that she made at Centennial Park and Linden Estates. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 5 sisters- Evelyn Trotter, Irene Finney, Effie Schmidt, Pauline Lauer, and Jeanette Lindly; 4 brothers – Gerald Trotter, Herman Trotter, Bobby Trotter and Floyd Trotter; a grandson Jeremy Trowbridge; and a great-granddaughter Gretchen Furrow. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Reverend Jurdan Counts officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Thursday 12:00 Noon to 8 PM. The family will greet friends 12:00 Noon to service time on Friday at the funeral home.
