James Wayne Davidson age 73, passed away March 19th, 2015 in his home at Milburn, Nebraska surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Reverend Don Schauda officiating. Burial will be in the Gates Cemetery. A register book may be signed at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials are suggested to the Gates Community Center Fund. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.
Jim was born January 24, 1942 to Larry and Luticia (Huffman) Davidson in Sargent, Nebraska. Jim graduated from Sheridan County High School in Denver, Colorado in 1960 and from Colorado State University in 1964. Jim married Cheryl Kraus on December 29, 1964 in Sargent, Nebraska at the Methodist Church. Jim and Cheryl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014. To this union two children were born, Neil and Natalie. Jim worked for the Colorado Extension Service in Adams County, Colorado after college. In 1969 they moved to Nebraska and started a farm/ranch operation, eventually settling in to the Milburn area where the original Huffman homestead was.
Jim was involved in numerous organization throughout his life, some of which included the Colorado and Nebraska JCs, 4-H, the Gates School Board, the Board of Directors for Farm Credit, Sargent Irrigation District and Loup Basin Reclamation District. He was a strong activist for rural schools and water issues.
Jim hobbies were wood carving, leather work, building unique items...he was a jack of all trades.
Jim's focus was on the family farm and he looked forward to seeing it grow and change. He now has 3 generations that enjoy the benefits of his legacy.
Jim is survived by his wife Cheryl Davidson of Milburn, son Neil (Mona) Davidson of Milburn, a daughter Natalie Davidson of Thedford, 3 grandchildren: Amber, Cassey, and Cash, 2 great grandchildren: Halsey and Lilly, his mother Luticia Davidson of Denver, CO, a sister Joan (Norbert) Lovata of Madison, WI, and two brothers: Duane Davidson of Denver, CO, and John (Linda) Davidson of Nalcrest, FL.
He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence and a grandson Ryan Peterson.
