Orval Benton Rosentreader, age 90, of Broken Bow, formerly of Ansley died Sunday April 19,2015 at Heritage Hall Care Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held Thursday April 23, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Saint Josephs Catholic Cemetery at Broken Bow with military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday April 22, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Ansley Veterans Wall.
Orval B. Rosentreader was born November 30, 1924 at home in the Hawk District near Ansley to Loren and Doris (Fortik) Rosentreader. He attended grade school at the Hawk School. In 1942 the family moved to Ansley where he attended school until he was drafted into the Army. He served as 7th Division Quartermaster during World War ll from 1945-1947.
After returning to Ansley he met Martha Esch. They married August 4, 1947 in Broken Bow. In the spring of 1948 they moved to the Frank Hawk farm Southwest of Ansley in the McIntosh district. Two sons were born there, Terry and Jerry. In the spring of 1953 they moved to the Artie Staab farm in Happy Hollow. A third son, Barry was born there. Orval was a member of the Happy Hollow School Board, a 4-H leader and a Farm Bureau Member.
Orval and Martha moved south of Ansley in 1996. Martha died in November 2007. In Later years he lived in Heritage Hall in Broken Bow.
Orval is survived by sons Terry and (Linda) Rosentreader of Ansley, Ne, Jerry and (Rita) Rosentreader of Mason City, Ne., and Barry and (Tracy) Rosentreader of Mason City, Ne, a sister Opal (Merlin) Hilty of Lexington, 10 grandchildren Tony, Krista, Nathan, Jeremy, Leann, Heather, Lee, Jake, Adam, and Amy; 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha, a granddaughter Linsay Rosentreader, and nephew Dan Hilty.
