Anselmo, NE- Marion “Pooch” Olson, age 79 of Anselmo died Monday April 27, 2015 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 2, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Andrew Black officiating. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery with Military Honors. Govier Bros. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM with the family greeting friends 6 PM to 7 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Heritage Hall Nursing Home or the Asera Care Hospice.
Marion was born on August 24, 1935 at Merna, NE to Frank W. and Mary E. (Whipple) Olson. He graduated from Merna High School in 1952. From 1955 to 1957 Pooch served in the US Army. On June 25, 1955 he was married to Elaine Brassier at Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Marion is survived by his wife Elaine Olson of Anselmo, Four daughters; Deborah (Ron) Miller of Merna, Judy (Mike) Farritor of Broken Bow, Janie (Tom) Christen of Anselmo, and Julie Olson of Hastings. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sisters; Alma Leonard of Bakersfield, CA, Irene Ohmberger of Broken Bow, Rosalie (Jim) Greer of Grand Island, Carol (Perry) Myers of Merna, and Dee (Dan) Cunningham of Merna. brothers; Kenneth (Donna) Olson of Lexington, Wayne (Linda) Olson of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Luella Spanel, Florence Reynolds, and Norma Gilligan, brothers; Loyd Olson, LeRoy Olson, Olen Olson, and an infant brother Orville.
