Kay V. Towns, age 77, of Broken Bow, Nebraska died Monday June 1, 2015 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be Thursday June 4th, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Broken Bow with Rev. Josh Hillman, and Rev Roger Quandt officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 3rd, at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church or a Scholarship to be arranged with the Custer County Foundation in Kay’s memory.
Born April 18, 1938 in Broken Bow, NE to Evelyn & Benny Hall.
She graduated from Merna High School with “The Palmer Methodist Business Writing Teachers Certificate” in 1955 and started teaching at Prairie Hill country school outside of Merna, NE. On April 2, 1954 she met Dick Towns at the Merna Legion Hall at a Hadley Barret Dance. They were married on Dec. 26, 1955. She was a ranch wife, mother and also was employed by the Corner Style shop eleven years, receptionist for Prairie Eye Care for thirty plus years and she worked at the counter at Runza for the last two years. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and acted as Sunday school teacher and served Lutheran Ladies as President. She was active in 4-H as a youth and a 4-H leader in the Lillian and Gates community for 20 years. She was a long time member of the Town & Country Extension Club. She loved attending her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. She loved playing cards and taught all her children and grandchildren how to play. If one of her friends was having a Bridge game she was there.
Survivors include daughter Cindel Hamilton of Broken Bow, NE; son Mike (Bobbie) Towns of Rosemont, MN; daughter Stacy (Dann) Smith of Columbus, NE; Brother- In- Law Dennis (Arletta) Towns Hastings; nephews Tod (Kim) Towns of Denver, CO; Brice (Sara) Towns of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Keli (Jeffery) Erickson, Brant Myers, Tia ( Mike) Jilg, Shelby Hamilton, Bailey Smith, Molly Towns, Jack Towns; Great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Harmony, Taylor, Trinity, Danica, Gavin, Jocelyn, Ben and great-nieces and nephews, Dominik, Keaton, Sophia, and Ethan.
She was presided in death by her husband Dick Towns and parents Bennie and Evelyn Hall.
