Marvin L. (Bob) Call, age 92 of Merna, Nebraska died Monday September 7, 2015 at Heritage Hall care home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 12, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials are suggested to the Anselmo-Merna Foundation or the Arbor Day Foundation.
Survivors include his wife Dolores Call of Merna, Ne., three daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Chandler of Anselmo, Ne., LeAnn (Rich) Duryea of Broken Bow, Ne., and Kim (Eldon) Schipporeit of Broken Bow. 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, a sister Mildred Gier of North Platte. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 4 sisters.
Marvin (Bob) Call was born August 4, 1923 on the Call Farm east of Merna, Ne. to Charles J. and Dorothy (Kaminska) Call. Bob attended Yellow Dog Canyon School, Prairie Center School, and Broken Bow High School, graduating in 1941. He farmed with his father and mother, until he married Dolores J. Ryan on June 6, 1951.
They farmed for twenty two years. In 1973 they moved to Merna, Ne. where Bob worked for the Kilfoil township till1975, then for Anselmo-Merna Schools as bus driver and bus superintendent, until 1989, when he retired.
After retirement, Bob took up golfing, working in his woodshed, yard and gardening, flowers and trees: and dancing to the big band sound.
