Six years later she moved with her parents to Antelope Valley where her parents purchased a farm with a sod house that her dad remodeled. She attended Antelope Valley School and received her eighth grade education. She graduated from high school at Sargent in 1933. After high school she taught school and worked in the ASCS o?ce in Broken Bow until her marriage to Harald E. Gilfert April 18, 1941. They
resided in Coburg community, later purchasing a farm in Dry Valley.

Harold Mars continued to work for Una until his death in 1999.
She remained on that farm for 26 years then purchased a farm two and one half miles east of Westerville. She continued caring for her cattle until 2001, when she sold them and retired on the farm. Una remained on the farm until July of 2014 when health issues made it impossible for her to be alone.
Besides enjoying cattle and the outdoors, she loved animals. She always had dogs, cats and bucket calves as well as a horse or two around.
In 1934 she accepted the Lord as her Savior during a revival meeting in a little country church near Walworth. She was a member of the Weissert Church of God at the time of her death.
During her life Una loved to travel and took many trips to Europe and Denmark to visit relatives and friends, bus trips to several locations in the United States, Canada and Alaska. She also traveled to see relatives on trips with her brother and his wife, friends, and Harold Mars.
