Connie Jo Jones, age 77, of Broken Bow passed away at Jennie M Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow on October 13, 2015.
Memorial Funeral services will be held October 19th at 11:00 AM at Oconto Community Center in Oconto, Ne. with Reverend Glen Emert officiating. A Register Book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials may be made to your local church.
Connie Jo was born on February 7, 1938 at Sloan, Iowa to Robert Edward and Wilma Georgia (Padgett) Easley. She was the oldest of 9 children. She attended school in Sloan, IA and later Pilger, Nebraska.
On November 11, 1954 she was married to Doug Jones. The couple moved to Lincoln shortly after their marriage so Doug could start his ministry education at Nebraska Wesleyan College. Connie got her GED in Lincoln and took courses at NE Wesleyan. They served the Denton church while in Lincoln. After Doug graduated from Wesleyan they moved to Illinois to attend Garret Evangelical Theological Seminary. In 1965, Connie Jo and Doug returned to Nebraska and served churches at Meadow Grove-Battle Creek, Weeping Water-Nehawka, York church at east Ave. and Benedict, and Anselmo-Merna. They retired to Broken Bow in 2003, and are currently serving the Eddyville-Oconto UMC.
Connie Jones is survived by her husband, Doug Jones of Broken Bow, Ne. daughter Stefanie Bleich of Kearney, Ne., son Ron Jones of Doniphan, Ne., 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, her sisters Kay Kwhen of Stanton, NE, Marilyn Tuttle and Collette Chaney of Norfolk, Ne, a brother Ron (Barb) Easley of Papillion, NE, and lots of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Connie Jo is preceded in death by her parents, father and mother in law, Frank and Mary Jones, brothers, William, Jim, and Bob Easley, a sister Judy Bramer, and a sister in law Marge Raasch.
Connie Jo loved her cats, especially black ones and her favorite cat Suzie Q. Connie Jo loved to spend time with her family, reading, and taught her kids, grandkids and great grand kids the value of reading. Connie Jo’s faith was also very important to her.
