Bernard Bonsack

Eddyville, NE- Bernard Bonsack age 87 of Eddyville died Friday November 13, 2015 at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway. Graveside services will be held on Monday November 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Lone Tree Cemetery at Weissert, NE with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation with the family greeting friends will be held on Monday morning 8 AM to 10:30 AM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials may be given to the family. Bernard L. Bonsack was born on August 23, 1928 at Shelton, Nebraska to George and Myrtle (Franks) Bonsack. He received his education at Anselmo, NE. After his schooling he worked full time operating the family ranch at Anselmo. On September 17, 1958 he married Harriet Pracht, the youngest daughter of Clarence and Nora Pracht of Weissert, NE. Bernard and Harriet purchased a farm at Oconto, NE, where they spent the next 15 years raising their family and farming. In 1978, they sold the farm, had a farm sale and moved to Eddyville, NE where they have lived since. In 1979, Bernard took a job with F.L. Beattie Inc. of Sumner, NE working in swine production, a position he worked at for nearly 25 years, retiring in 2003. He was involved in the raising livestock all of his working years. Bernard and Harriet celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary September of 2008 Bernard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Harriet, and one daughter Karla. Survivors include his son Ray Paul Bonsack of Lexington, two daughters Nora Jean Bonsack and Mary Alice Bonsack both of Eddyville.
