Colton K, Eggleston, age 7, of Oconto, Nebraska passed away peacefully at his home in Oconto, Nebraska on Saturday February 27, 2016.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the SEM High School Gymnasium at Sumner, NE with Pastor Ken Hutson officiating. Burial will be in the Oconto Cemetery at Oconto, NE. Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 1, 2016
at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, Nebraska from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present.
Colton was born on August 21, 2008 in Kearney, Nebraska to Jayson and Danielle (Purvis) Eggleston. He attended and completed pre-school and Kindergarten at SEM in Sumner.
With his beautiful smile and infectious personality, he touched the hearts of everyone he met. Colton loved all animals, especially his dog, Lilly. He loved the great outdoors and was an avid swimmer. Hunting, fishing, and playing in the snow were some of his favorite things to do with his loving family. Colton enjoyed playing soccer and T-ball and excelled in wrestling. He loved every holiday and was famous for his July 3rd water fights. The K.C. Royals and peanut butter/jelly sandwiches were also favorites of his. Playing games on the iPad helped pass the time during those long days in the hospital as he was bravely fighting AML Cancer. Colton was very courageous and an inspiration for everyone he met including all of his doctors and nurses.
Colton was an amazing boy. He was so tenderhearted and kind, yet extremely strong and always so loving. Colton was an amazing brother, loved playing with his sister, cousins, and friends.
Colton loved Jesus and had asked him to come into his heart. He enjoyed attending Sunday School and Awanas.
Left to mourn Colton are his parents, Jayson and Danielle Eggleston of Oconto; sister, Colbie Eggleston of Oconto; grandparents, Dennis and Connie Eggleston of Oconto; Don and Sherry Purvis of Kearney; uncle, Clint Eggleston of Oconto; aunt, Darcie Weiss and husband, Luke of Kearney; cousins, Michael and MaKenzie Weiss of Kearney; great grandparents, Vi Eggleston of Oconto and Delores Richards of Hayes Center, NE.
Colton was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Keith Eggleston, Harold Richards, Ronald and Carol Bain, and Cecil and Lois Purvis.
