Donna L. Calvin age 82 of Callaway formerly of Oconto, died Sunday February 28, 2016 at the Callaway District Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Oconto Community Building with Reverend Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Oconto Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday 8 AM to 8 PM with family greeting friends 7 PM to 8 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Oconto Methodist Church or the Good Life Center in Callaway.
Donna Lorraine (Wood) Calvin was born on October 31, 1933 to Arthur and Nita (Scott) Wood on the Redfern Table south of Callaway. She was the oldest of 4 children.
She graduated from Callaway High School in 1950 and attended Kearney State to obtain her teaching certificate. She taught at the Redfern Table country school where she met the love of her life Parker Leon Calvin Jr. The couple was wed June 5, 1954 at the EUB church on Redfern Table. To this union 4 children were born. Donna raised her family and continued to teach for 50 plus years.
Donna enjoyed church, writing letters, and genealogy. She and her husband were very gracious in helping others. They enjoyed getting together with friends and playing cards. Her greatest joy was her family.
Donna is survived by two daughters; Sally (Jim) Allen of Olathe, KS, and Sue Nichelson of Cozad, NE, Jim (Lesa) Calvin of Tryon, NE, and John (Glatha) Calvin of Callaway, NE, two sisters Ardena (Gail) Neilson of Wheatland, IL, and Arlynn St.Germaine of Casper, WY, one brother-in-law Reggie Christiansen of Casper, WY, one aunt Mary Joy of Seward, NE, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, one sister Wilma Christiansen.
