Broken Bow, NE- Emma L. Stefka age 79 of Broken Bow died Wednesday March 9, 2016 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Reverend Glen Emert officiating. Burial will be in the Douglas Grove Cemetery at Comstock, NE. Visitation will be held on Thursday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with the family greeting friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Comstock Fire and Rescue or the family choice. Emma is survived by her 3 sons Rodney Stefka of Alliance, Ne., Danny Stefka of Alliance, Ne. and Rollie (Kina) Stefka of Comstock, Ne. 1 daughter Jo and (John) Smolik of Sargent, Ne. 8 grandchildren, Gary Stefka, Denise Picket Pin, Tim Stefka, Cassidy Stefka, Zeb Stefka, McKenzie Stefka, Aklin Smolik, and Logun Smolik. 3 great grandchildren Riley, Dante, and John. 2 Brothers Robert (Janet) Anderson of Farmington, N.M., Theo Anderson of Wood River, Ne., 3 sisters Donna Longnecker of Grand Island, Ne., Mary Stefka of Ord, Ne., and Betty Thompson of Grand Island, Ne., 2 sister in law Charlotte Anderson of Ansley, Ne., and Roseann Anderson of Grand Island, Ne., brother in law LeRoy Peterson of Grand Island, Ne. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eldon, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Emma Lucille Stefka was born October 22, 1936 in Ansley, Nebraska to Leo W. and Blanche T. (Hammer) Anderson. Emma attended country school and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1953. On November 22, 1953 Emma married Eldon Stefka in Loup City, Ne. From 1953 to 1985 they farmed and ranched in the Spring Creek Community near Comstock. Emma attended Mid Plains Community College and received her degree as a LPN. Emma worked as an LPN and a Pharmacy Tech at the Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow from February 17, 1975 to February 17, 2004. Emma was an avid quilter. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed going to their many activities.
