Broken Bow, NE- Edna Camila Ptacnik, age 98 of Broken Bow, formerly of Ord, NE, died Friday June 10, 2016 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Services will be held Tuesday June 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery in Ord, NE at 12:00 noon. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. A rosary service will be held on Monday June 13, 2016 at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, NE. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary and Monday evening 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church. Edna was born on January 12, 1918, at Valley Co, NE, to Lew and Emma (Cernik) Smolik. She grew up in Ord and later graduated from Ord High School. Edna taught school in Valley County for four years. She married Leonard Ptacnik on June 12, 1939 at the Geranium Catholic Church in Valley County. They farmed in Valley County for 25 years before moving to Colorado Springs, CO, and later to North Platte, NE. Mr. Ptacnik died on June 5, 1983. Edna moved to Grand Island in 1985. She later moved to Broken Bow on October 31, 2012. Edna enjoyed reading, cooking, quilting, gardening, flowers and crossword puzzles. Edna is a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters Court Queen of Peace #2227, Quilting Ladies Group and Christian Mothers. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Clifford) Klein of Merna, NE, 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren her brother; Emanuel (Clara) Smolik of Alma, NE, a sister-in-law; Lillian Smolik of Elkhorn, NE, and a son-in-law, Hal Wilson of Grand Island, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, John, a son Robert, her daughters; Marianne Wilson, and Betty Jo Schneider, her sister; Ellen Bonne, and a brother, Emil Smolik.
